Future Networks Architect — Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) & Global Space Connectivity | UK
About the Opportunity
Join a pioneering deep-tech organization building the next generation of global connectivity across land, sea, air, and space. This team is redefining how satellite and cellular networks work together—enabling seamless, cloud-native orchestration of multi-orbit satellite systems and terrestrial mobile networks. Youll help shape the future of Direct-to-Cell, NTN, and the evolution toward 6G.
Were seeking a customer-facing Solutions Architect with deep expertise in SATCOM and 3GPP mobile network architecture across RAN, Core, transport, and service orchestration. This role sits at the intersection of space systems, cellular networks, and cloud-native telecom platforms, owning end-to-end system architecture, technical trade-offs, and product evolution for advanced NTN and Direct-to-Cell solutions.
You'll partner closely with customers, engineering, and product teams to define architectures, influence product direction, and help bring next-generation network capabilities to market.
System & Solution Architecture
Design end-to-end architectures for NTN service chains (UE RAN Core Transport/SDN Service layer)
Lead customer engagements for multi-orbit satellite systems integrated with 4G/5G (Rel-17+) and future 6G concepts
Define system blueprints and interfaces across space, ground, and mobile network domains
Translate customer requirements into technical architecture and execution plans
Drive technology selection, trade studies, and technical proposal development
NTN & RAN Optimization
Design and optimize RRM, scheduling, beam management, mobility, and interference coordination
Address satellite-specific constraints such as Doppler, latency, beam hopping, and power limitations
Architect advanced orchestration and spectrum-sharing capabilities for Direct-to-Cell networks
Ensure alignment with regulatory and spectrum frameworks (ITU-R and regional bodies)
Standards & Ecosystem
Apply and interpret relevant 3GPP specifications (RAN, SA, CT)
Engage with industry forums and standards bodies (e.g., 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, O-RAN, ESA)
Cloud, SDN & Automation
Design orchestration and automation for RAN and Core functions, including FCAPS
Define APIs and interfaces for automation and inter-domain coordination
Delivery & Stakeholder Leadership
Lead technical engagements, proposals, and reviews across commercial and public-sector programs
Act as a technical authority across engineering, product, partners, and customers
Strong background in 4G/5G architecture across RAN and Core
Proven SATCOM system architecture experience (space and ground segments)
Deep knowledge of 3GPP architecture, protocols, and interfaces
Hands-on understanding of PHY/MAC, scheduling, mobility, beamforming, and interference
Experience producing architecture documentation and technical specifications
Familiarity with networking protocols, RAN OAM, and control-plane concepts
Knowledge of cloud-native networking, NFV, orchestration, and automation
Excellent communication skills with experience engaging telecom, satellite, and defense stakeholders
Direct experience with NTN or Direct-to-Cell systems and 3GPP Rel-17+ enhancements
Familiarity with satellite constellations (LEO/MEO/GEO) and aerospace systems
Knowledge of O-RAN (SMO, RIC, xApps/rApps) and GSMA APIs
Experience with modeling, simulation, or digital-twin tools for network planning
Scripting or software development experience
Patents or publications in wireless, satellite, or mobile communications
Why This Role
Work on globally impactful technology, collaborate with world-class engineers and customers, and help define how mobile connectivity extends beyond Earths surface.
