The Opportunity
We're looking for a skilled and motivated Trade Compliance Manager for our Los Angeles office. Reporting to the VP of Legal and Operations, you'll lead our trade compliance strategy, ensuring strict adherence to ITAR, EAR, and other export control regulations. This role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Business Development, Operations, and regulatory agencies to manage export and ITAR compliance programs. Beyond trade compliance, you'll also help implement other compliance initiatives like anti-corruption and technology controls, with ample opportunity to grow your impact as the company scales.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain trade policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Department of State, Department of Commerce, and Department of Treasury regulations.
- Establish and manage the companys Export Management Control Policy (EMCP) consistent with DDTC requirements.
- Conduct trade compliance audits and investigations to identify and mitigate risks.
- Determine classification and licensing requirements (ITAR, EAR) and apply for necessary licenses via DECCS, SNAP-R, etc.
- Perform and maintain restricted party screening records.
- Design and deliver export control and global trade compliance training programs.
- Stay current with regulatory changes, enhancing the companys trade compliance posture.
- Collaborate with IT and Engineering to ensure secure system architectures for controlled information.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance.
- Ability to independently identify and execute necessary tasks in evolving situations.
- Comfort with learning complex technical concepts and product functionalities.
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with engineers, business development, and legal teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. export control regulations, including USML, ECCN, deemed exports, EAR, and CCL.
- Hands-on experience with DDTC licensing applications (e.g., DSP-5, TAA, MLA).
- Proven track record in developing and implementing export control programs.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for U.S. export-controlled information.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
