Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in pushing the boundaries of light-based communications through the development of agile optical tracking systems. A strong background in control theory and hands-on engineering experience is essential for success.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of multistage optical feedback and feedforward control systems, ensuring precise, agile control of tracking solutions.
Integrate and process data from optical and non-optical sensors to generate real-time, multidimensional control signals for enhanced system performance.
Drive innovations in light-based communication technologies through advanced control system design, modeling, and implementation.
Manage projects from concept through manufacturing, validation, and product release.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of impactful solutions.
Required Qualifications:
Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 5+ years of industry experience.
Proven experience in designing, building, and deploying agile optical tracking systems for light-based communications.
Proficiency in control system design, modeling, and implementation for optical feedback and feedforward systems.
Experience fusing data from optical and non-optical sensors to generate precise control signals.
Strong control theory fundamentals with hands-on experience in lab and field settings.
Track record of executing projects from design to release.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a relevant engineering field with 10+ years of experience.
Experience in developing and deploying optical beam tracking systems for free-space optical communications.
Familiarity with machine learning techniques for high-performance beam control.
Expertise in open-loop beam pointing and rapid acquisition algorithms.
